Pals, some 4 km away from Fontclara, is a medieval settlement with a special charm of its own. Its old part is well known throughout the province as one of the must-see places when visiting the Baix Empordà. Visitors will find shops selling the characteristic pottery of the area, a captivating church, and restaurants for replenishing one´s energy. A special highlight at Christmas time is the Living Nativity Scene.

The village closest to Fontclara. Here you will find restaurants for sampling this land´s fine cuisine, and the charming village shop to cover the basics of your food-shopping needs. Palau-sator is also home to the Rural Museum, devoted to farming utensils and their history

Peratallada is one of the most renowned medieval sites in the province of Girona. Its walled-in centre is particularly charming, and there are catering options to suit all tastes: restaurants, bars, cafés with terraces, hotels and more. The river Onyar runs right through Girona, offering entrancing views of colourful houses overhanging the water, and the city in general is on a par with other European main cities in every way: cinemas, museums, shops, the Jewish quarter, eating out, shopping centres and much more – everything you might require, in fact, and just 35 km away from Fontclara.

The coves and beaches dotted along the middle part of the Costa Brava, along with the little fishing villages found there such as Calella de Palafrugell, Llafranc, Begur and Tamariu, are distinguished by the quality of the water. The coastal footpaths linking those villages facilitate matters for nature lovers setting out on highly attractive walks along them, while choral havanera singing is a noteworthy feature of the villages.

The cuisine in this land rests essentially on the wide range of produce found here. The excellent quality of the fresh fish landed on our coast means that this is the place for the very best our country has to offer in seafood. The region´s chefs work meticulously day after day to offer quality products in their menus.

Standing out in particular among all the weekly markets held in this county are the markets of La Bisbal (on Fridays), Palafrugell (Sundays), Torroella de Montgrí (Mondays), Palamós (Tuesdays) and Girona (Saturdays, in the Devesa park). You will find in all those markets everything from traditional food products to garments, music and all the usual items found in markets.

Noteworthy among the area´s museums are the Rural Museum in Palau-sator, the Cork Museum in Palafrugell, the Cinema Museum in Girona, the Dalí Triangle (formed by three exhibition centres: the Dalí Museum in Figueres, the Gala-Dalí House Museum in Púbol, and the Dalí House Museum in Portlligat), Can Quintana in Torroella de Montgrí, the Fishing Museum in Palamós, and the Toys Museum in Sant Feliu de Guíxols, among others.

In this respect we could single out the Ullastret ruins, the Empúries ruins, the Call (Jewish quarter) in Girona, the Dalí Triangle (exhibition centres in Púbol, Figueres and Portlligat), the monastery of Sant Pere de Rodes and Montgrí castle. Also worthy of note are the Medes Islands Nature Reserve on the coast at L´Estartit and the Aiguamolls de l´Empordà Natural Park.
